We often think of lightning as the destructive image of shock and change. It's often depicted in the imagery on Tower Tarot cards by many authors, and in classic writing to signal explosive change. But I don't often read of lightning’s immense (and transformative) healing power.
When we find ourselves shackled to our illusions, fears and doubts, unable to break free on our own, the glorious Universe intervenes to free us through radical, often explosive change. The kinds of change to our physical and emotional circumstances that we can't see coming...those which jolt us from the familiar discomfort we know and thrust us into the terrifying uncertainty of what we are now free to build or become.
A mantra to accompany this ode to change: I am reborn with every breath, endlessly becoming the person my soul longs to meet.
And a poem about transformative truth...
Truth comes quickly and spares no soul
sweeping past guard posts, leveling any obstacles,
EXPLODING into a triumphant light by which
we all grow newly illuminated.
The light can be harsh and unflattering,
blinding in its sudden intensity...
but in its brilliance we can finally see the new path forward.
